Scarabajo Botanical is the artistic practice of Seattle-based botanical artist Atenas Morales. Her work explores the intersection of nature, textiles, and sustainability through eco-printing and natural dyeing — processes that capture the living imprint of plants directly onto fabric — celebrating the unpredictability and quiet magic of the natural world.

For her Seattle Restored activation, Atenas is transforming the space into a living studio: a creative ecosystem where visitors can immerse themselves in botanical art, wearable textiles, and hands-on learning. Drawing from a background in the performing arts, she brings a distinctly experiential sensibility to her practice, crafting environments that invite curiosity, connection, and discovery.

Through workshops, exhibitions, and community engagement, Scarabajo Botanical is making sustainable textile art more accessible and inviting to a wider audience. Atenas’s goal is simple but profound: to inspire people to slow down, reconnect with the natural world, and uncover the artistic possibilities hidden in the plants around them.
