Deycha Nhtae is a Seattle based visual artist. She’s spent the last decade in Seattle developing her artistry, illuminating Black, fat softness. She uses acrylic, gouache, and digital media, painting figurative illustrations and colorful interpretations of everyday people, moods, and scenes. Her practice centers a radical embodiment of the process of art marking, aimed at subverting compulsory productivity. She is a a teaching artist at Pratt Fine Art Center, partners with Gay City as a teaching artist in their queer youth after-school arts programming, and is currently pursuing a Masters of Arts in Teaching. This is her inaugural art exhibition.
