Momma Lips Draws

Jessie Lipscomb is the founder of Momma Lips Draws, a small illustrating business of almost 4 years creating custom portraits, public art, teaching workshops and digital consulting. Her recent pieces were inspired by self-exploration and the childlike wildfire joy from her own kids. The “I Am” series, which includes expressive portraits in black, brown and yellow, started in 2022 after years of racial driven conversations with her husband. She decided to capture Black expression through joy because at the time, representation was very fear & negative driven. To also emphasize all lips in gold is a callback to negative older characteristics of Black representation with red lips, but we’re taking it back! Jessies work aims to showcase whatever phase of life she is in and currently, that’s enjoying whatever is presented to her and moving forward with joy.
