Melissa Misoda is a Seattle based artist working primarily in glass. She took her first class at Bucks County Community College in 1994 and instantly fell in love with the fluid nature of working with the material. Melissa went on to receive her BFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and her MFA from Alfred University in New York.
Melissa has been teaching glass arts at Sammamish High School in Bellevue, Wa since 1999. She was drawn to teaching to share her passion for this amazing material, and believes skills-based art is essential in helping young people develop necessary communication skills and build the self-confidence so many young folks need to grow. Melissa is also an advocate for engaging in artistic practices for mental health nourishment and awareness. Mental health is an often overlooked and undervalued journey everyone takes part in, though affecting some more than others. She believes everyone can benefit mentally from adding art into their life.
