Treyana Fortune is a self taught visual artist and painter inspired by color & texture. She focuses primarily on the beauty of the black woman, celebrating their vast spectrum through manipulating faces and bodies using sculptural brush strokes, hues and volume to strike a balance between reality and the abstract. The concept behind this installation, “Ink” is black women reclaiming space in unwelcoming and heavily gentrified spaces. Ink is a celebration of blackness. It represents not only the melanin in our skin, but the manner in which black women put their stamp on anything they touch.
