Etaane Neumann is the founder of Little Orchid Annie’s, a small business of almost 5 years that offers plants, coffee and botanical art. With a focus in orchids and preserved abstract moss art, she pushes the boundaries of traditional media and strives to redefine what is considered “art”. In the Pacific Northwest, moss has become so engrained in the surroundings that it often falls to the background. Her intent is to revive the magic of greenery ever present in our surroundings.
Many pieces are inspired by and named after places in the greater Seattle area. All mosses have been preserved so there is no required water, light or care. Materials include naturally dyed and un-dyed mosses and lichens mounted on reclaimed wood canvas. All materials are non-toxic and the colors may fade or blend over time. Little Orchid Annie’s is open Thursday-Sunday in Ballard.
